Activities Ice
Experience the only Indoor Ice Arena in Oshkosh at the 20th Avenue location of the Oshkosh Community YMCA. Our ice arena features an NHL regulation rink, as well as 4 large locker rooms for your convenience. Youth and adult programs are offered for all skill levels, beginning at age 4. Ice Arena programs include beginner skating lessons, beginner hockey, recreational (non-traveling) hockey leagues, figure skating, adult skate lessons and hockey programs. Family and public recreational ice-skating is offered on a daily basis and skate rental is available in our Pro Shop. The Oshkosh Youth Hockey Association offers opportunities to youth interested in competitive hockey through the Warbirds program.

4 ON 4 Adult Hockey LeagueA competitive non-check hockey league played 4 on 4 with a goalie. No checking and no slap shots.
One game per week on Sun nights. Previous experience required. Full equipment required. Goalies play free. Runs Jan 6-April 14. Registration deadline: Dec 30.
Adult Co-ed Rookie HockeyCo-ed instructional program for beginner or less experienced adults, interested in hockey. This program includes informal practice and drills followed by a recreational game. Basic skating skills are required. Full equipment is required. Experienced players should not register for this program. Sessions run Jan 6-Feb 17 and Feb 24-April 14.
Freestyle Figure SkatingOpen Freestyle time for practice to further develop your skills. No instruction is provided. Runs 5:15-6:15pm Jan 1-May 14. Fee charged.
Hockey Equipment Rental ProgramAt only $5 per session, this is a great way to get started in hockey without the equipment expenses. Helmets with face masks, gloves, shin pads and elbow pads are available. Use our rental skates for FREE and all you need to buy is the stick. The equipment room is located at the end of the bleachers in the ice arena and is open the week before the first class of each session, from 3:30-5pm. Bring your child along for proper sizing. Made available thanks to the Oshkosh Hockey Boosters.
Learn to SkateFor ages 4 and up. Program based on the Skate With Us program designed by US Figure Skating. Offers Snowplow Sam 1, 2 and 3, as well as Basic Skate 1-2 skate lessons. Each session includes two half-hour lessons per week. Participants learn the basics of skating by developing balance and confidence.
Open Skate and Open HockeyA full schedule of open skating and youth and adult open hockey will be offered beginning in September. Pick up schedules at either YMCA location or by clicking on the OPEN TIMES icon for a complete schedule.
Private Skate LessonsSet up private lessons with a YMCA instructor based on your schedule. Available to all skill levels. Call 230-8449 ext 114 for more details. Single sessions or packages available.
Skate with UsBasic Skills program for all ages and all skill levels. Skill testing will be conducted at the conclusion of each session with advancing individuals eligible to receive a colorful patch. Free skate rentals for program use. Basic skating skills required. Wee Skate lessons recommended before enrollment in Skate With Us.

Stick & PuckSessions are offered when school is out of session. Open Hockey schedules can be picked up at the Oshkosh YMCA or call for schedule and dates. Stick & Puck is a drop-in style pick-up session. Children must participate only within their own age groups. Call 230-8423 for more information.

Warbirds HockeyThe Oshkosh Youth Hockey Association (OYHA) offers a competitive, traveling youth hockey program utilizing the YMCA Ice Arena for practices and home games. Play follows USA Hockey and Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) guidelines. Warbirds Hockey is open to all children ages 6-17, residing within OYHA boundaries. Each team practices two times per week and games are scheduled on weekends versus East-Central Wisconsin teams of the same age levels.

Women's and Girl's Rookie HockeyAn instructional program for beginner or less experienced women and girls ages 14 and older. This program includes informal practices and drills followed by a recreational game. Full equipment required. Runs Jan 1-Feb 18 and Feb 25-April 15.
YMCA Learn to Play Hockey (formerly Mighty Mites)Designed as a progression of levels leading into recreational YMCA Hockey. Levels are divided into four components: skating, stick handling, passing and shooting. Participants advance upon completion of skills checklist. Designed for beginners ages 4-10, played in a cross-ice format to enhance skill development and increase participation. Emphasis is on learning! NO previous skating skills required. Session includes two on-ice lessons per week with skills, practice drills and controlled scrimmages. Please refer to the Skills Guide at right for level placement. Skate rentals free for program use.
YMCA Recreational Hockey This in-house (non-traveling), non-checking instructional hockey league for ages 6-10 years old, which includes two on-ice sessions per week. Participants may register for one of two levels, grouped according to age and skills. Basic skating skills required. Required equipment: helmet with a mask and mouth guard, hockey gloves, elbow pads, shin pads, cup and supporter, shoulder pads, hockey stick and hockey pants.
