Activities Mind, Body, Spirit

YMCAs have led community-based health and fitness for more than a century. Research continues to support the approach to health that YMCAs have taken since 1891 when Luther Gulick proposed the red YMCA triangle as a symbol of a person’s "essential unity – spirit, mind and body – each being a necessary and eternal part of man." Participation in Y health and fitness programs offer opportunities for friendship and community, a sense of well-being, self-confidence, and improved mental abilities and cognition – not to mention the obvious benefits of healthy hearts, lungs, bones and muscles.

Integrative Medicine

Corrine Rathbun is an experienced massage therapist providing Swedish, deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, hot stone, reflexology and pre- and post-natal massage, with special training in Tui Na (Chinese medical massage), acupressure and aromatherapy. Rathbun received her formal training in massage therapy at the East-West Healing Arts Institute in Madison with more than 1000 hours of combined hands-on therapy. She holds a certification from the State of Wisconsin and is a member of good standing with the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. Introduction to Yoga

This class is designed for someone who has never taken a yoga class before. 5:30-6:30pm Tuesdays. Free for members.

Judo

A martial art that promotes physical fitness, discipline and self-confidence. Judo teaches throws, mat pins and falling techniques. Our Judo instructor, Mehdi Mohammadian, is an 8th Degree Black Belt and member of the Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Classes held Monday nights at the 20th Avenue for all skill levels.

Pilates

Pilates helps strengthen the entire body while increasing flexibilty. This non-impact mat class will make its participants sweat! FREE to Members. $5 for AWAY Members. Yoga

Hatha Yoga is offered for all fitness levels. Participants are encouraged to work at their own level and pace. FREE to Members. $5 for AWAY Members. Click on OPEN TIMES for a complete schedule of classes.
