Hello! I am Tim Fox, a Personal Trainer at the 20th Ave. YMCA. I have been a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2004, and a USA Weightlifting Certified Coach since 2002. In addition to personal training, I have coached “Olympic-style” weightlifters at the local, state, and national levels, and designed strength and conditioning programs for high school sports including football, volleyball, basketball, and softball.
As a YMCA personal trainer, I work with clients in achieving their fitness goals, whether beginning an exercise journey, or improving their current level of fitness. Over the years, I have served a diverse clientele, including athletes, children, young and middle-aged adults, and elderly individuals, (a number of whom struggled with chronic conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, arthritis, Lyme Disease, Fibromyalgia, stroke, chronic back pain, etc.). And having personally suffered long term issues from Lyme Disease, as well as a nerve-impaired arm and shoulder, helps me relate to the various challenges that clients face.
The YMCA is about personal growth and effecting positive change in people’s lives. Being a personal trainer here gives me the opportunity to be the “guide on the side” as clients work to improve their health and well-being. Brightening people’s lives in this way is a very good feeling!
When I am not working with clients at the YMCA, I enjoy strength training and hiking, as well as reading, and I am the author of 4 books for upper elementary and middle school readers.
